Can Shoes Give Hope? | Sycamore Photographer | SMP

Life moves pretty fast these days…they call it the digital age, because we all have smartphones and laptops and are plugged in nearly all hours of the day! I want to share a little bit today on the simple joys in life. In my personal life, I have been trying to hone in on the simple things that make me happy, and the things I want to be grateful for. I did my 12 Days of Christmas giveaway to spread a little holiday cheer, and today, I want to focus on one last piece of joy for 2017…the perfect kind of joy: the kind that comes from giving hope to others. I have been promoting a community event that is coming up on January 21st at my church. It is to benefit the organization Sole Hope. Sole Hope is an amazing program that is seeking to minimize illnesses that are contracted through the skin of the feet in impoverished countries. Many of the volunteers focus their work in Uganda, and distribute shoes that are made from old pairs of jeans.

To benefit this organization, I have been asking my social media followers to save their old jeans that are used to make the shoes. As I’ve read more and more about the important work they’re doing, I loved what I saw. They are really empowering women (making the shoes), and helping young children combat disease at the same time. I’m so excited for this event, and am hoping to get the support of the community. We will also help out by cutting the shoe patterns from the old jeans. I believe that as an artist and creative, I have the power to make a difference, and I’m so excited to do so. You can also learn more about Sole Hope right HERE!

Don’t forget to sign up for my SPARKLE NOTES and join in the fun!
